Before we dive in, in today's topic, I'd like to encourage you to connect with me on social media, you can find me on Twitter, x, as John underlined Michael on LinkedIn as John Michael and Facebook as image Group International. There. Let's get started with today's discussion. This is the last episode of the series, the top skills that will reward you for life. And we're exploring today the skill of resilience. So what is resilience, while resilience is the remarkable ability to bounce back from life's setbacks, failures and challenges. So it's the mental and emotional strength that enables us to weather storms and come out stronger on the other side. And you would have heard me say a lot about this in the last few years with lock downs, and so on. And of course, resilience is one of the major traits that would have actually got you through some of the challenges for some, it's been easier for others, and it has not. So the mental and emotional strength is really the key here. So in today's fast paced, unpredictable world, we know that resilience is not just a valuable skill, it's a lifeline. So full, get up again, have a go. That's a resilient mindset. The last few years are a testament to resilience, no matter if you or your business boom or was affected. In the context of personal branding. Of course, resilience plays a significant role. Your personal brand is not just about showcasing your successes, it's also about demonstrating how you've handled adversity and setbacks. And this is where vulnerability comes in. So resilience is also what allows you to maintain your brand's integrity, even in the face of difficulties. It's about staying true to your values, staying focused on your goals and inspiring others with your ability to persevere, and lead. And lead is a, you know, a key word here. So what does this all mean? Well, it's a mindset. And it's one of the key aspects of resilience is the capacity to adapt to change and uncertainty. And as we are constantly changing, and the world is changing. Those who adapt, and innovate are the ones who thrive from a business perspective, from a career perspective, that's like at the top of the tree. Resilience gives you the mental agility to pivot when necessary, turning challenges into opportunities and setbacks into stepping stones. So what I'm going to say to you is, basically, with all the negative news out there, regarding the economy, wall, people getting sick, et cetera.

The reality is, that's stuff that you can't control. From a resilience perspective, what I'm talking about is creating possibilities that you can and of course, I've discussed this many times before, your imagination is something that you can control. And of course, creating possibilities from your imagination is something also that is part of your personal power. So let me share you a story of their resilience transform one of my clients lives. I thought I'd name this story rising from the ashes the entrepreneurial resilience, I'm Richard B. So in a world of entrepreneurship, resilience is often the dividing line between success and failure. The story of Richard be a determined and resilient entrepreneur exemplifies this truth. So let's talk about his setback, while Richins journey began with him creating his dream business, a specialized management consulting firm in regional Australia. For years, his firm had been a constant, you know, on a constant growth surge with a respected reputation. But in the summer of 2020, probably struck. Some of the leading clients decided to suspend the contracts with them, leaving them in a possible cashflow challenge. And some of those cons included also government. So the response, of course, to the business and of course, psychologically, to Richard and his team was devastation, but not defeat, Richard and his team faced a critical crossroads. Now by the way, this is a common problem for a lot of small to medium sized businesses. He could accept the fate and move on or he could rise from the problem presented. Richard wisely chose the leader with unwavering determination. And I suppose a lot of stress that came along the way I know that for a fact, decided to not only rebuild his business, but also reinvent with the new service offering. And of course, what that meant was now we're starting to see resilience election. So what he did was adapted a strategy around innovating into the future, embracing the digital age, of course, that a lot of also other businesses were facing at the same time and launch an e commerce website with the potential to expand his market beyond not only his town's limits, but also globally. And what he did through that was, of course, run not only specific consulting program for companies, but also even into also online webinars, workshops, and of course, courses, and all the other supporting materials around their books, etc. So he basically recreated his business. And of course, what he also did was engaged the community on his new mission, Richard engaged, of course, the local community, in a way like never before. Although he's always been very close to the community.

6:23
He never did what he did this time, organize fundraisers, hosted online workshops, and collaborate with other small and medium sized businesses in the region and beyond. So the outpouring of support was tremendous. And what that did was help his comeback. This is very important, because this is definitely a holistic Outlook to building and growing your business. It's not only about your clients, it's also about the community you serve. So every year, Richard B's business rise from its challenge stronger than ever, of course, the psychological challenges that entrepreneurs go through. And, you know, that has an impact on everybody, their teams that you know, the families and so on is just part of the game. But resilience gets you through that. So resilience help Richard's online sales surpass, even sometimes some of the in house revenue, and his community engagement efforts solidified client loyalty, because that's what it does. It builds trust with your community. And he expanded the product lines and implemented Of course, the new, robust ecommerce strategy. The takeaways from all of this was this Richards Bay's entrepreneurial journey teaches us certainly was great also for us working with him that setbacks are a natural part of business. What matters most is the resilience to adapt, innovate and rebuild. That's what you can control because that is in your control. I'm not saying it's easy by the way, Richard based story is a testament to the fact that with unwavering determination and a willingness to learn and grow, entrepreneurs can rise from the ashes of adversity, and achieve even greater success. Richard Bay's consulting firm is more than just another business. It's a symbol of resilience and the indomitable spirit of entrepreneurship.

And I have a final tip. If you generally truly love your kids, I'm gone a little bit side wise on this one. Do not do it for them what they are capable of doing for themselves. Like when you're sailing, you don't improve until you face storms in the sea. This is just a good reminder that resilience is not just the trait you're born with. It's a skill that can be developed and strengthened over time. And the good news is that you can start by building your resilience today no matter where you are on your journey. So I want to thank you for joining me today on this exploration of resilience. Remember, your personal brand is not just about your successes. It's also about how you handle your challenges and setbacks. Resilience is the key to maintaining a style authentic and sustainable personal brand.
